アメリカ起業 Bio Architecture Lab (BAL) とノルウェーの海上石油・ガス大手 Statoil が戦略提携した。
BAL の海藻からバイオ燃料を製造する研究開発費を Statoil が負担する。Statoil はノルウェーで海藻栽培を担当し、ノルウェーの実証工場の建設は両社で行う。
これとは別に BAL は海藻知識が多く、輸入石油に依存しているアジアに深
い関心を持っている。
