ごみ処理大手のWaste Management社と、バイオベースの糖中間体メーカのRenmatix社が家庭ごみから良質の糖を作る技術の共同開発契約をした。原料を農村型に加え都市型のバイオマスに拡大できる。前処理した原料を水ベースの工程で処理するため、低コストでかつ原料の自由度が高くなる利点がある。
